This is a FIG/IHO Category A course, accredited also by The
Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology and
The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors. It is a well
rounded course including topics ranging from Oceanography
and Sedimentation, Survey Project management, Methods in
Hydrography, Positioning to Integrated Digital Systems, most
of which included offshore field work in and around
Plymouth Sound using different hydrographic methods and
specialized equipment as well as various processing,
visualization and presentation software. I wrote my
dissertation under the topic “The Role and Implementation
of a Hydrographic Office to deal with Marine Administration
in Small Island Developing States”.
 BSc. Surveying and Land Information, (HONS), University of the
West Indies (St. Augustine, Trinidad)
This course is accredited by the Royal Institute of Chartered
Surveyors and included courses that covered all aspects of
Surveying including Geologic and Seismic, Cadastral,
Hydrographic, and Geodetic Surveying as well and Land Law,
Photogrammetry, Planning, GIS, Natural Hazard and
Disaster Management.

Graduate Surveyor
Duties:
 Planning and execution of Cadastral and Topographical surveys of Government Lands for
Government of Barbados. This included reconnaissance, design of survey, execution of survey
and final submission of plans and reports whilst exhibiting accountability for each survey
assigned. Duties also encompassed supervision of survey team, the development and
maintenance of positive working relationships and a combination of diplomacy, excellent interpersonal,
written and verbal communication skills in order to communicate effectively with
clients, supervisors and disgruntled resident. Execution of duties, good character and
achievement of prescribed qualifications, enabled me to obtain a Land Surveyor’s License under
the Land Surveyors Act Cap. 370.

 Planning and execution of topographic, control and construction and as-built surveys. Surveys
were carried out on sub-contract to other businesses and included the planning and execution
of surveys for the construction of a Gas Refinery and Generator Plant. Duties also
encompassed supervision of survey team, the development and maintenance of positive
working relationships and a combination of diplomacy, excellent inter-personal, written and
verbal communication skills in order to communicate effectively with clients and supervisors.
Discipline was also a key factor in the execution of survey due to time constraints, deadlines,
and accuracy needed to be achieved there-by exhibiting accountability for each survey
assigned.
